Session Title: Rhythm & Poetry

Session Description: The importance of recollection, and self-expression has never been more apparent than now.  Participants will be introduced to using creative writing as a tool to just that, in this session. Writing is a practice that is free of financial barriers. It is something we all can engage with with to express ideas and utilize as a coping strategy when struggling with life’s challenges, or mental well-being. In this session we will explore introductory writing strategies that we use on our own time, and also build into our practice.

Speaker Biography: As an alumni of RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrants, Wali Shah is a poet and public speaker. He’s  created poetry for corporate events, delivered TED talks, and spoken at hundreds of schools and colleges. Wali closed out President Obama’s keynote speech with a bespoke poetic message in Toronto, and has also served as Poet Laureate for the City of Mississauga.
