The Nurse Psychotherapist in Canada: Competencies, Legislation and Advocacy
The newly published textbook, The Nurses' Guide to Psychotherapy: A Reference Book for Nurses Providing Psychotherapy, has generated many questions and discussions for nurses across Canada. Advocacy surrounding legislation and scope of practice for nurse psychotherapists is required to create standardization across the country.
In this 4-hour workshop, the editors of this book, Stacey Roles RN MScN PhD and Kamini Kalia RN MScN CPMHN(C), will present some of the highlights of the book, including current legislation, competencies for nurse psychotherapists, and advocacy needs for the future of the profession.
